The clip shows the singer allowing a female admirer to approach the stage for a selfie, during which she leans in to kiss him on the cheek. In response, Narayan appears to tilt his head and kiss her on the lips. Addressing the issue in an interview with Bollywood Hungama, Udit dismissed any wrongdoing, calling the moment an act of “pure affection” between him and his fans. He emphasized that his bond with his admirers is built on love and respect. “At this stage in my life, when I have achieved so much, why would I do anything inappropriate?” he asked. He added that he sees nothing scandalous in the video and expressed amusement at the controversy, saying, “If people want to find something dirty in it, that’s their problem, not mine.” Udit also suggested that there was an agenda behind the video resurfacing months after his US-Canada tour. He stated that attempts to tarnish his reputation would only make him stronger. He further highlighted his legacy, mentioning that the late Lata Mangeshkar considered him her favorite co-singer of his generation. Confident in his stature and talent, he said he remains unaffected by those who try to bring him down.
